The Return of the Boom Bap is a FREE Break Beat and Hip Hop Culture
event designed to spark the growth of urban expressions and the revival of it's network in the community. This event will focus on these 5 elements: DJ’s, MC‘s, B-Boys, the art of Graffiti, and the 5th element is the soul, to be the most peaceful and respectful person you can be. Someone who believes in a good and safe life. Someone people look at and can say, that's a good person that represents Peace, love, respect and having fun. Our goal is to project a positive influence to the inner city and beyond for generations to come.
The Legendary Grandmaster Caz
(of the Cold Crush Brothers) (NYC) 6pm - 7:30pm
The first simultaneous DJ and MC in hip-hop history, Grandmaster Caz is perhaps best known for rhymes he didn't even perform -- namely, the uncredited verses that Big Bank Hank borrowed for the groundbreaking Sugarhill Gang single "Rapper's Delight." The fact that neither Caz nor his group the Cold Crush Brothers ever recorded an official full-length album also doesn't help shed much light on his legacy -- an unfortunate injustice, considering he was one of the most important and influential pioneers of old school rap. Grandmaster Caz was born Curtis Fisher and grew up in the Bronx, where DJ Kool Herc began playing block parties in the early '70s. Caz attended his first Herc party in 1974, and was amazed by the huge, booming sound system and the way Herc worked the crowd. Inspired to try doing the same thing, he immediately purchased some equipment and adopted the DJ name Casanova Fly (which later morphed into Grandmaster Caz). After honing his skills, Caz teamed up with JDL (aka Jerry Dee Lewis) to form the Notorious Two, and during this period became the first DJ to rap while handling records on the turntables. Both Caz and JDL joined the Cold Crush Brothers circa 1978-1979, with Caz becoming a full-time MC. In 1979, former R&B singer and label head Sylvia Robinson discovered Caz's friend Big Bank Hank rapping along with one of Caz's practice tapes. Impressed, she invited him to become the third member of a studio rap group called the Sugarhill Gang, which was set to record the first rap single. Without revealing the true author, Hank went to Caz and asked to borrow the rhymes for the record; Caz agreed, hoping for an eventual favor in return -- which never materialized, and neither did songwriting credit or royalties. Despite that mishap, Caz did find a measure of underground success with the Cold Crush Brothers. They recorded several singles for the Tuff City label during the early '80s (compiled in 1996 on Fresh Wild Fly & Bold), and became one of the most popular live rap groups in New York during the pre-Run-D.M.C. era. Most prominently, the Cold Crush Brothers appeared in the 1983 old school hip-hop film Wild Style, which has since become a cult classic; they recorded the theme song and engaged in an MC battle with their chief rivals, Grand Wizard Theodore and the Fantastic Five. Like most other old school artists, the Cold Crush Brothers didn't survive the advent of Run-D.M.C., and Caz launched a brief solo career in the late '80s. Again recording for Tuff City, his singles included "Mr. Bill," "Yvette," "Count Basie," "I'm Caz," "Casanova's Rap," and "Get Down Grandmaster." None of them made much of an impact, and Caz faded from the music scene for a time. With more attention being paid to the roots of hip-hop in the late '90s, Caz's name resurfaced as an early pioneer, and he began making appearances at historical conferences like the one staged in 1999 by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2000, he released a new single titled "MC Delight," which addressed the "Rapper's Delight" controversy.

Their name originated when they first started turning wax, their friends used to say, "Its the sneaker in the dryer", cause they sounded like someone threw a sneaker IN the dryer. Now with their grown maturity and confidence behind the decks, this duo no where near sounds like that, so they replaced the, "in" with "and", and formed Sneaker and The Dryer. Watch out for this duo as they work their way through a rebounding New England Scene, dropping the hottest, funkiest, breakbeat bombs and get ready to......GET YOUR FEET WET.

TNOC (abstracttraxx.com, www.myspace.com/Tnoc, atarisafari.com, Spread the Word, illmagic.com, CT)
Connecticut based MC Tnoc began writing hip hop lyrics at the age of 13. Now with over 12 years experience, this veteran lyricist has become a staple in the northeast hip hop and rave scene. Recently forming an unstoppable duo with freestyle rhymer/b-boy and long time friend MC Napalm, the two have been creating a serious buzz in new England and the Tri-State area for their work in both hip hop and drum n' bass. Tnoc collaborates with many different DJ's, MC's, Producers, and Musicians in many different genres of music. Tnoc got his start performing live back in 2001 rhyming over jump up drum n' bass. He began running a drum n' bass/breakbeat weekly along with his other group members in early 2002. In late 2002 Tnoc formed his own record label, Abstract Traxx, and self released his debut album of original hip hop songs in late 2003. Now in 2005, he is touring all over the Northeast with a second hip hop album in the works, as well as some original drum n' bass productions. Abstract Traxx has now branched out to include services of music production (for vocal artists), promotion, ghostwriting, and event planning/production. Tnoc's multiple syllable rhyming style combined with intelligent metaphors leaves him a force to be reckoned with. Tnoc's open minded approach to music always leads to an innovative performance disregarding the typical boundaries of genres.
Napalm (abstracttraxx.com, atarisafari.com, Spread the Word, illmagic.com, CT)
MC Napalm first became immersed in hip hop culture in the late 80's in New Jersey where he learned the art of b-boyin', poppin', and lockin'. After moving to CT, he began to hone his skills as a freestyle MC at age 14. Napalm is known for picking apart the competition and cutting them down to size with his fierce delivery and his clever battle rhymes. Now teamed up with long time friend Tnoc, the two bring styles that are as different as night and day, but come together for a better combination than milk and cookies. They are known for their old school breakbeat style seamlessly blended with groundbreaking new sub-genres of hip hop. Napalm is well known all across the Tri-state area as a b-boy, and has showcased his popping skills on stage alongside hip hop legend KRS-ONE. Napalm is a true asset to hip hop, breakbeat, and drum n' bass culture, his improv performance and defining character leave him a step above the rest.
